I Do Not Require Serenity
I do not require serenity
I do not desire simplicity
I do not need security
I will not demand stability
What must I do for you to see,
I will not embrace hypocrisy—
To wear my faith like a badge
As if it is “cool” or “hip” to do.
It seems to me like you’ve become a tool,
And sold out to the master of complacency.
Take a stand for what you believe,
Step out on the water and brave the waves.
Boldly proclaim and suffer the shame—
And cling fast to the hope found in Jesus name.
And one thing I ask, that you do not become
A Christian made of mediocrity.
